Try A Modern Interior Design Idea
Posted on 09. Aug, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
As you look around your home, you know it’s time to make a change. Making changes in your home is not easy when you are interior design challenged, but there are plenty of sources in the marketplace to help. Since your home has not been remodeled for at least twenty years it is time to try a modern interior design idea. Modern interior design ideas are easy because modern furniture and accessories can be found almost everywhere, because modern is today.
Clean And Bold
Modern interior design has clean lines and bold colors. There is very little detail work in the woodworking of the furniture. Metal and acrylic furniture are very familiar in modern interior design ideas.
Monochromatic and bright colors are both found in modern interior design ideas. Solid color leather furniture in black and white go perfect against a red or deep tan wall. Red, black or tan are great looks for this style of modern design. White and black accessories will look perfect with any of these three colors. Box shaped or rectangular tables also work with modern interior design ideas. These tables can be monochromatic colors or the opposite of the furniture color. Large, contemporary artwork should be on the walls with tall chrome floor lamps. Similar table lamps can also be used. A large custom area rug should also be featured in the room. There are endless possibilities for modern interior design ideas.
Focal Point
A beautiful home interior design idea is using a favorite area rug or having one made for your new modern interior design idea. It’s making something old, new again. This is a great place to start your new modern interior design idea project. Custom area rugs can almost be pieces of art by themselves. You can take a picture of something, or take an idea to one of these rug craftsman and they will duplicate the design into the rug. Custom area rug craftsmen are practically artists themselves. It is always a great conversation piece to build a room around a rug.
If you do not want to use a rug as a focal point, try a piece of art for the wall. Use a piece that is huge and colorful, and then build on that. Your wall color will become part of the frame and your accessories will accent the artwork. Rooms that are built around artwork are just gorgeous and a perfect way to display a modern interior design idea.

A Child’s Interior Design Bedroom Idea Is Great Fun
Designing children’s bedrooms is wonderful fun and can be thought of out of the normal design box. Whimsical, silly and fun are great ways to describe children’s interior design bedroom ideas. You can use an interior designer to get a bedroom interior design idea or you can browse through design magazines and catalogs. The internet is another great resource for finding good children’s bedroom interior design ideas.
Bold Color
Bold color is a must for children’s bedrooms. Most little girls rooms are done in pinks, purples and peaches. The majority of little boys rooms are done in blues, greens and reds. There are no rules when it comes to bedroom interior design ideas for kids. But it is a good idea to always use bold colors. If you are using light pink to paint a little girls room, then use bolder and deeper pinks for the furniture, fabrics and accessories. Do not be afraid to add bright blues, oranges and yellow to these rooms as well.
Kids love color and are stimulated by color. If the child has a favorite color and favorite hobby, go with those ideas and expand the horizon. If the child is young, use coloring books for character inspirations. Interior design bedroom ideas in children’s rooms always tend to focus on the walls. Painting large characters or murals on the walls is always a wonderful idea.
Use nets to hang from the ceiling and fill it with stuffed animals or other creative ideas. Find creative ways to hide and store toys and use large prints on fabrics. A small table and chairs for coloring and playing is always a hit with the kids, as is a small tent or teepee to hide in.
Pictures
If you don’t think that your creative juices can conjure up a great children’s room, much less a child’s interior design bedroom idea, then find a picture of one that you like and start with that picture. You can copy the paint and color ideas and find fabric similar to the one in the picture. Pictures are worth a thousand words and they can bring a modern interior design idea into a dated and old room. Use a modern theme and find pictures to help describe that theme and build on that idea. Pictures of rooms will always help you to decide what you like and what you don’t like. They will help you to prevent a lot of interior design mistakes.

A Good Interior Design Idea Starts With Paint
Posted on 04. Aug, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
You do not have to have a degree from a design school to have a great interior design idea. Anyone who enjoys rearranging rooms or remodeling rooms can have great interior design inspirations. There are simple rules of thumb for interior design and if you follow these rules and expand on them, the possibilities for creating beautiful interiors are endless. It doesn’t always take a lot of work to create your interior design idea. Sometimes you only need a can of paint and a paintbrush to create your idea.
From Dull To Bright
It is amazing what a little color will do for a room. Bright and bold paint colors are very popular for interiors in homes today. No longer will one see vanilla cookie cutter interiors when shopping for a new house. Color adds warmth and expression to a room and it helps to sell a house. A good interior design idea using a bold tan can greatly enhance a home that is hoping to sell. The shades of brown and tan are used to bring personality to a room.
If the house does not get a lot of light, then shades of green, yellow or peach are good choices to brighten and bring expression to a room. A great bedroom interior design idea is to take an off-white bedroom and paint it yellow. The dull, dingy looking room will suddenly come alive with the yellow paint. Many people don’t realize how dull their rooms are until they add the brighter paint. An entire look of a room can change with one coat of new paint. All it takes is one interior design idea to create a whole new look.
Paint To Accessories
After you paint the room and discover the difference it makes in the look of the room, chances are that you will want to change your accessories. Painting a room often will have this design effect on people. Suddenly your pretty things seem old and dated and you want something new. This is how one interior design idea can suddenly expand into something more. The design process is just beginning, but this is how it starts. You change one aspect of your room and suddenly it takes on a whole new dimension. The interior design ideas are suddenly endless. This is where your budget comes in handy. If painting is all you can handle at the moment then wait a couple of months and then start creating your new interior design idea.

What Will A Professional Maid Service Do?
Posted on 04. Aug, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
When looking for a maid service, you want to make sure the service will do what you need it to. If you really want the job done correctly, you should look for a professional maid service. Whether it’s for house or apartment cleaning, a professional maid service will always do the job correctly, you can bet that your belongings will be safe and if you have a complaint, you can go to the head of the company to have your grievances heard. All of this makes hiring a professional maid service much better than just hiring an individual that may have been recommended to you.
Your Belongings
Many times, people hiring a professional maid service have the main concern of being worried about their personal belongings. When someone is folding your laundry and going through your drawers, all of your personal belongings are right there. They could be easily stolen and it’s not likely that you’d notice anything missing until way after the fact. You want to makes sure your personal belongings are safe, you want to make sure you can trust the people going through your things and you also want to make sure the company has insurance in case any of your belongings come up missing or broken.
What Will They Do?
When you find a professional maid service, you want to make sure they’ll do whatever you need them to. Make sure you are clear about what you want. If you want the service to do your laundry, make your beds, dust, vacuum or anything else, make sure you make everything apparent before the professional maid service begins cleaning.
Make Sure You’re Completely Satisfied
There are many professional maid services out there so you have your choice of which ones to hire. If one doesn’t seem to be doing the job you need them to, don’t be afraid to go with another company. That’s the great thing about going with a professional service. A professional service is going to want to get good referrals from customers. That means they’ll try extra hard to please you. Because they know if you’re not satisfied, you’ll just go with someone else and there are many more companies out there willing to take your business. Again, just make sure you’re clear about what you want so that the company can do their best to clean your home or office as you need them to.

Designing Your Home Office
Posted on 30. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
One of the most difficult places to think of an interior design idea for is the home office. You want the home office design to be work friendly, but at the same time, comfortable and inviting. An office away from home is usually stiff and uncomfortable. So at your own house, when you are on the computer or doing work at home, you do not want to feel like you are still at the office.
Tips And Ideas For Home Office Design
Before you design your home office space, you have to ask yourself a few questions. First, what is the purpose of your space? Is it just for internet use, or do you work from home and need a true home office? Do you have a specific room for your home office, or do you need a home office design that fits in a nook or corner of another room. Who will be using the space besides you? If you do not work at home and the space is for family use, make sure that the space is accessible for everyone. You will not like having your home office in your bedroom if children are going to be using it on a regular basis. Finally and very importantly, is there a telephone line, electrical outlet, and internet hookup nearby? If there are not, then you will have to have cords strewn across the floor. Even with cord covers this can be hazardous.
After you asked and answered these questions, you can begin to think about the home office design. There are several questions you must ask and things to think about the home office design before you begin implementing one. Do you have enough space for a full sized desk? If you do not, then you can use a computer armoire. This contraption is great for use in a family room. The computer will not be visible when it is not in use. If you are putting your home office in another existing room, you will want the home office design to mesh well with the pre existing design.
A computer armoire can make this happen. In addition, what type of storage do you intend to use? Are you planning on using shelves, drawers, or cabinets? If you have a separate home office, any home office design will be fine. But if you are working with a pre existing room, you will want the shelves or cabinets to match the rest of your shelves or cabinets. Finally, how will you handle any cord issues you may have? Try to get the cords to run along the baseboard of the room, if you need to have them run more than a few feet.
If you ask yourself these questions and think about these tips before embarking on your home office design, your home office should be a hit!

Apartment Cleaning Made Easy
Posted on 28. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
If your apartment is really dirty, it can have an affect on the rest of your life. A dirty apartment can put you in a bad mood, it can cause you more stress, and it can even make you hate your living quarters. Apartment cleaning doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as it seems. Apartment cleaning can be easy as long as you break the job into smaller jobs, you’re clear about what needs to be done, and as long as you have the tools you need to get the job done.
Break It Into Smaller Jobs
Apartment cleaning doesn’t have to be done at once. Depending on how big your apartment is, you should break the job into as many different jobs as you can. For example, apartment cleaning typically consists of doing the dishes, cleaning the counters, cleaning the carpets, cleaning the bathrooms, and doing laundry. If you have children, you also have to clean up their toys, their clothes and whatever else they have lying around. Take a sheet of paper and write down everything you need to do. Then, decide how much time you have each day to devote to apartment cleaning. If you only have fifteen minutes a day, do a little bit each day. By the end of the week, your apartment should be spotless.
Carpets
Clean carpets can do wonders when it comes to apartment cleaning. If your carpet is really bad, you may want to ask your leasing office if they use professional rug cleaning services. They may allow you to contact that company or you may be able to get your carpets cleaned as an incentive to renew your lease. If your carpet isn’t that bad, make sure you get some stain cleaner to get any stubborn spots and make sure you get a steam cleaner. You can rent steam cleaners from grocery stores sometimes or you can buy a steam cleaner at your local department store.
Reward Yourself
Once your apartment cleaning chores are done, reward yourself. Make yourself your favorite dinner, take yourself to the movies, or do anything that makes you feel good about going through with your apartment cleaning. Breaking the job up will make it much less overwhelming and having a clean apartment will do wonders on your mood and your sense of being.
So get to work on your apartment and don’t stop until you actually feel good about where you live.

Interior Decorating Tips
Posted on 27. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
If you have a home, you probably want to have it look the way you want. You want the style and dcor to match how you feel inside, be it contemporary, traditional, modern, or simplistic. Your home and its interior decorating should mirror who you are. It would be strange to find yourself coming home to a home that does not reflect a thing about you. Here are some interior decorating tips to bring out the best of your style without overwhelming your space.
Tip One: Personalize
When you are selling a home, any realtor or stager will tell you to depersonalize it. Take down family portraits, pictures of the kids, and personal artwork. Keep the colors neutral and the designs classic and simple. But when you are living in a home, you need to personalize it and make it your own. Interior decorating skills come in handy when you are personalizing your home, but you do not need specific skills to do a top notch job with your interior decorating. One thing you can do to personalize your home is to create a unique art piece. You can glue bits of fabric to a canvas, have your children paint abstract art, or paint your own abstract art. The key is that they do not have to look professional, just interesting.
Tip Two: Do Every Room
Even if it takes you years to do it, make sure that you decorate your entire home. There may be some rooms that you do not use frequently, like a home office. Even so, when you are in that room you will want it to be an enjoyable place of interest. A home office design that is unique and enticing may make you work harder and be more relaxed in your home office. If you decorate every room except that room, it will stand out like a sore thumb. Plus, you will not feel as comfortable in there as in the rest of the house and you may even avoid the room. But if you do some interior decorating in there, it will be a comfortable place to spend your working hours.
Tip Three: You Do Not Have To Paint
Interior decorating can be done without changing the color of your walls. You may have many reasons not to paint. Perhaps you are renting and are not allowed to paint. Or you may have many items in the room and are unable to move them to paint. You could even be disabled and not have the ability to paint. Whatever your reason, know that you can find great furniture and wall pieces to decorate your home without touching a paint can!
These tips will allow you to begin your journey in interior decorating. If you follow these tips and your intuition and instinct, you will have a beautiful home in no time at all!

Professional Rug Cleaning Or Do It Yourself?
Posted on 22. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
If you want your carpets cleaned, you have the choice of hiring a professional rug cleaning service or you can do it yourself. Home carpet cleaning can be done by yourself but it’s going to take some extra work. That’s because professional rug cleaning services use industrial powered machines that are able to get up much more dirt and grime than machines you can buy at your local department store. There are many professional rug cleaning services out there and many don’t cost much money. There are actually pros and cons to both choices; it all depends on what your carpet looks like and how much money you have in your carpet cleaning budget.
Hiring Someone
Hiring a professional rug cleaning company is probably the best choice for a carpet that’s really bad. If there are a lot of stains or the carpet just looks really dirty, a professional rug cleaning service will have all the tools to get that dirt up. You’ll likely be amazed at how new your carpet looks after the professional rug cleaning service does its job.
The downside to hiring a professional rug cleaning service is that you’ll have to call them out, and pay their fees, every time you want your carpets cleaned. If you tend to need your carpets cleaned often, you may want to buy your own machine so that you can do maintenance on your carpet every so often instead of constantly calling a professional rug cleaning service out to your home every time you want a clean carpet.
Doing It Yourself
Buying your own machine to clean your carpets has its upsides. First of all, you always have the capabilities to clean your carpets whenever you need to. You’ll probably have to buy the chemicals or soap products but that’s still cheaper than hiring a professional rug cleaning service every time you want your carpets cleaned.
The downside to doing your carpets with your own machine is that those machines usually aren’t as powerful as a professional machine. That means your carpets may not get as clean as they could if you would’ve hired a professional company to come do the work for you.
Neither choice is a bad one. They both have their upsides and their downsides. It all comes down to how bad your carpet looks, how often you tend to need to clean your carpets and how much money you can spend.

Designing Your Home Interior
Posted on 21. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
You do not need to hire a decorator or interior decorating professional to design your home interior. Even if you have no color sense or sense of style, you can still design your home interior without the help of a paid professional. There are many different online sites and television shows dedicated solely to designing home interiors, and if you read and listen, you can become your own interior designer for your home. The shows and websites will all tell you the same basics when designing your home interior.
Keep It Simple
If you are a first time home interior designer, make sure you keep your designs simple. The complex designs may look good on television, but for the average home, many of these designs just are not practical. If you have never decorated a home, the first time that you try your hand in home interior design should be a simple task. Instead of redoing your entire kitchen, try painting, decorating, and getting new furniture for your living room. Do not go overboard, and do not do too much with any one space. You may be tempted to keep putting more and more into a room, but for the most part, simple is better.
Get Help If Necessary
Another great tip for designing your home interior is not to do anything that you do not necessarily feel comfortable with. While it is great to go outside of your comfort zone, there are certain things that you simply should not do if you do not know how. If your home interior is not the lay out you want it to be, you may be contemplating knocking down some walls. This is not as simple as using a hammer on the wall, however, and you should probably get help from someone who knows what they are doing. This is especially true if there are electrical wires in the wall. If you are not an electrician, you should not be messing around with electrical wires. You or someone else could wind up seriously injured by trying to do things that are above your level of expertise. So do not be afraid to get help if you need it.
Have Fun
One of the keys to home interior design is to have fun. If you have fun while creating or designing a space, that will show in the final design. If you are stressed and worried the whole time, your design will not be nearly as polished or finished.
So make sure that you keep it simple, do not do things you are uncomfortable doing, and have fun while designing your home’s interior!

Designing Your Home
Posted on 17. Jul, 2009 by Mark Coleman.
No one wants to live in a house with plain white walls and no decorations. A plain house is just that a house. It is not a home. In order to make your house a home, house design is important. There are some tips that you need to take into consideration when contemplating your house design.
Tip One: What Do You Like?
Your house design is what sets the tone for your home. If you have Asian inspired house design or contemporary house design and do not like it, you will not feel comfortable in your own home. Because house design is something that usually stays for many years as it is not necessarily easy or cheap to change, it is important that your design choices reflect something that you and your family enjoy and appreciate.
Tip Two: Fit Your Needs
Your home interior design needs to be something that suits the needs of you and/or your family. If you have young children, you cannot design your only large living space into something that is untouchable. In addition, white carpets or furniture are usually a bad choice for a home with any children at all, regardless of age. If you are single or married with children out of the house, you can chose more elegant house designs like white furniture or carpet or glass objects in low places. Of course, if you have pets, these design options are out of the question as well.
Tip Three: Size Matters
When designing a room or space in your home, it is crucial that you take into consideration the size of the room and the size of the pieces you are putting in that room. Everyone may love a large, luxurious sectional sofa, but the fact is that some rooms do not lend well to that type of furniture. If you have a small space, you need to think of that when you are designing your space. Likewise, if you have a very large room, you will need a large piece of furniture to occupy that space. A huge living room is perfect for that large, luxurious ten seater sectional sofa. If you use too small pieces in a large room, you will end up making the room look cluttered, not elegant and sophisticated.
Tip Four: Choose Wisely
While you may love the current trends and fads with house design, be selective. Stripes on walls are big right now, as are bright colors, and bold patterns. But if you combine bright colored stripes on your walls with bold patterns on the furniture or art work, your room will end up looking like some sort of circus. Instead, use muted neutral tones for the stripes on your walls. Try putting up a chair rain and having a solid color on top with stripes on the bottom. Then you can have one piece of boldly patterned or bright colored furniture to make it pop. The key to beautiful house design is being selective with trends and fads!
If you follow these tips, you will have a beautiful home that everyone loves to visit!
